The Women's Institute was originally formed in 1915 with two clear aims; to revitalise rural communities and to encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then our aims have broadened a little and we are now the largest women's organisation in the UK. We celebrated our 90th anniversary in 2005 and currently have 215,000 members in 7,000 WIs.
Silhill is a member of the West Midlands Federation of Women's Institutes and was formed in April 1994. Our monthly meetings are easily accessible as they are held in the heart of Solihull and in the morning (leaving plenty of time to enjoy the town's amenities afterwards). You will be very welcome to come as a visitor and find out more about us.
